About the Instructor
I'm originally from San Jose, California and moved to Northeast Ohio in 1999. I lived in West Akron for 17 years before moving to Medina, Ohio in 2016. I have fallen in love with Northeast Ohio and can't image living anywhere else. I'm married to my best friend of 28 years and am the proud mother of one son who is serving in the United States Coast Guard in San Francisco. I graduated college with a degree in Dental Hygiene and worked for Dr Kyle Eberhardt in Akron, Ohio for 13 years before retiring and deciding to do something different. Following my passion for sewing was the obvious choice. When my son was a young child I worked as a school bus driver for 6 1/2 years where I learned that I truly loved being around children. I then found that I loved working with children being a dental hygienist and teaching them proper brushing and oral hygiene. When I put all those aspects together with my love of sewing, opening a sewing academy was the perfect fit. I have been sewing since I was 4 years old. My grandmother taught me to hand sew all of my own Barbie doll clothes. I entered several sewing competitions as a child and took many first place ribbons. My passion was ignited!! Over the years it has continued to grow as I made my sons Halloween costumes, all my home décor items, and finally it led me to quilting. I have been quilting for years. I never stop learning and advancing my own skills and have taken numerous classes to always learn more. I am now teaching classes for children and adults and absolutely love helping to ignite the passion for sewing in others .
